First of all I'd like to say I mean no disrespect to kinger or any other coder because I know you guys work hard to try to please everyone even though that's impossible to do.

My concern is that mages/wars seem to be horribly inbalnced on this server because wars have unlimited crits and massive damage with those crits.

I think about everyone can agree that mages are more difficult and reqiure more skill to play than wars... they have to hotkey mshield/tower, switch to weapon, try to cast while being crit at, aim cancellation, aim blizz/esw all while having 1+ warrior(s) chasing you and critting you. Wars, on the other hand only have to press F3 to get wand and run off-screen to pfm/amp, press F2 to get their weapon back out and chase the mage and crit whenever they can. There is IMO no skill in that yet they can crit over 1k damage in one hit. Even with only pfm on I only hit wars for a total of about 90 damage sometimes because they're so close to me trying to crit me so I only get about 1 hit on them...

I pefer EKing on mages yet on this server I have more EKs on my war just chasing random mages around until they're dead. Yes, zwand + mass blizz/COTG hurts, but there are only an elite few mages who have those.. kind of like on HBUSA where the only good mages are the ones who have ESW because everyone has IE neck against blizz. At least there you didn't die in 2 crits.

I just started this server about a week ago so I am starting to build a PA set, and yes when I have mshield/tower on they don't hurt as bad, but the problem is that I have to unqeuip them sometime to cast, and with the crit range of devastator/kblade I get whacked and die in 3 crits before I can even cast. Weee, fun.

And please, instead of flaming me, give me suggestions on how not to die so easily besides hunting for a really good PA set - I'm trying to do that already. I'm also trying to raise my rep so Kweapons don't hurt so bad. Is there anything else I can do? I love to EK on mages but on this server it's almost impossible. Thanks for any suggestions

Ok, I understand where you are coming from and I think you need better hotkeys as a mage, I've been a mage for 8 years and I used this tactic from day one. Set a Spell to F2 and a Shield to F3. When a warrior is chasing you. You can cast and if he/she is too close you quickly press F3 and keep running. But if you think you can cast and still get hit you cast the spell and when its done equip the shield really quick. I hope that helps in some way.

I agree with you. This server is unfortunately not very beginner friendly. It's rather easy to get ball points but you are disturbed all the time and die in just a few hits. Mages are also impossible to EK with as a full BS armor mage. "So don't go EK'ing!!!". Well, isn't that the first thing you want to do when you cannot reach a higher level? That is the way new players see if they will like the server and then they die in 2-3 criticals...

Er, I mean no offense but hotkeying a spell is an awful idea. Kikoo's hotkeys are the best choices possible on a mage, and you don't need to hotkey spells to cast them quickly as long as you're doing it correctly. Though you do have the main idea right: the point is indeed to cast and reshield as quickly as possible, but Kikoo is already doing that.

I think a good part of the inbalance is due to kloness axes honestly (hell, even kloness esterks to a certain extent). I for one would have no complains to make anymore if they stopped killing me in 2 criticals which is exactly what warriors have the time to land on me while I cast a single spell.
Buuut I know Kinger's aware of this, so I shall wait until the fix and see how it goes. Until then, I'll only play on my warrior, which annoys me because I find mages to be much more fun.

I didn't take that into offense I just know I can cast but it still looks like I did it with a shield. And they [warriors] always go "AJAJAAJ cast ahck and shield PT noob." So I don't know its just what I use.

*on topic* i agree with this post mages are harder to play and are too easily killed by warriors, it takes a hell of a lot points to create a strong mage than it does for a strong warrior and even after you have spent over 1k points on a pa set you still die in 3-4 crits whilte you try to cancel the warriors and if you are lucky and manage to cancel them they can just run off screen and amp in 2 seconds so if you dont manage to unequip sheild and pull off a direct ews/blizz in those 2 seconds the warrior will live

idk bout that its kinda hard to surprise someone speaking that u can hear them walking/ running when they get close to u.... even if they do crit u put on shield and mshield not too hard. But if u look at it like this... make two chars a war and a mage both noobs both shop items... the mage will kick the shit out of the war hands down. so mages have just as much of an opportunity to be great as wars do.

In terms of hotkeys i think it all goes to preference. When on a mage fighting a war its better to have mshield and tower however when fighting a mage id say canc and esw or ur best off spell

As for the KA dmg im not fond of it but i dont see a problem they spent almsot 1k pts on it and got 5k rep it takes work. My main problem with kweaps is how low kb dmg is. it desperatly needs to be raised.

seiferoth if you like we can test out your theory, you make a mage with blacksmith items ill make a warrior with blacksmith items and use amp and we will see who wins?

and also pro mage = items worth 3k-4k points pro war = items with 1k points a huge difference there

See Seiferoth, the problem is you're saying warriors should be able to own this much because they spent 1k points and got 5k rep.

Well ok, I spent 700pts on my berserk wand and have gotten rep on my mage, though he still doesn't own one bit. My warrior would definitely own though, for almost the exact same thing (we all know 250 points are meaningless).

If KAxe was worth like 10k points, then maybe it'd be understandable. But it's really so easy to get...

Yes but it costs 4 times more to make an ownage mage.

u guys never heard of actually hunting for your armor instead of spending so much pts for them? i show no pity for a mage that spends 3k points on PA set. Go kill some mgs collect drops and save your points.

I'm not going to buy a PA set with points btw. I have been hunting for my armor, and I have yet to get a piece of armor that's better than PA12. Oh, there was this one PA24 Plate... wait, it was from an EK :arrow:

I honestly think it'd be faster to get 3k points than to find a decent set on your own =|

u dont know how to look for ur items... ive been playing for a good 2 weeks now n i have gotten nearly all my armors from drops... i just recently bought a pa 21 master helm and an ma 21 shoe.... thts it... i got a full MA set... i got a full PA set now... from picking up wat other ppl left behind and hunting for items wit my mage... lemme tell u... its a lot easier for mages to hunt for items... they kill 5-6 big monsters a shot n the items are all scattered... by the time a warrior kills a monster another monster takes its place and the drop is covered... its really easy to get items wit a mage... everyone is so used to buying them they forgot how to hunt for them

I have never killed any mage, in 1-2 crits ever, yet every mage Ive ever gone up against can 1 hit me if I dont have pfm on... so wtf? why is everyone saying that its unbalanced on wars side. In my opinion is all the K axe, that seems to be the only weapon that just does beastly damage to people with a very high Avg hit.

dragonis you have glad sword and 700 str if im correct, i have 600 str and glad sword on my warrior and i can hit 1k+ dmg on warriors and kill mages without a good pa set in 2-3 crits, you're not going to kill anyone in 1 single crit but i can kill them so they die b4 they even fly off their spot
