Default Support of NASA? - 05-05-2008, 08:10 PM

As you all should know, the United States has always supported NASA (The Space Organization). But now I come to question this...Why does the USA take millions and even billions of dollars out of regular citizen's (by taxes) pocket-money? Give me one good reason why they have done the right thing, and discovered something useful to the people on Earth. Yes, maybe they can eventually get people living on the moon, but we've already accomplished that, why do we keep wasting money on Mars and other planets. They have already deemed it impossible to host life on there. I think we should cut ties altogether with NASA, and make them go private, or at least reduce it to a maximum of 1 million dollars a year from an accumulated tax.

Comments? Bring it on let's go .

NASA= a waste of time. why try to find stuff out there if it might lead to demise since we have it good here on earth. even though we have a really corrupt government!!

personally, i dont think we've reached outside our atmosphere. i mean our telescopes work, but those images from hubble are impossible.

a gfx artist thats been doing gfx for 2 years could easily make a space scene that looks realisitic.

the moon looked staged.

i dont know, nasas a waste of time, theres nothing good in space anyway.

NASA does wayyyy more than any of you could honestly grasp. There generally good people..... most of the time and they do mostly good for the world in general. I've had the opportunity to personally speak with many of the "Heads of NASA".... if not for the terms in which i had to meet them it might have been a cool experience. But seriously, most of there projects are worth the tax money whether you feel that way or not.

A couple of you might recall the incident i'm referring to from RSU... I'd appriciate it not being brought back up. >.>

I think it isn't a total waste of money. I think eventually, if we keep at it, we will have the technology to get things from other planets and use it here for something. It sounds dumb, but if it could work, we might even find a better solution for burning fossil fuels other than renewable energy. There's things in space that are yet to be found.

Anyone have any opposing views? I'd love to have a real debate going.

In 5 billons years the suns going to explode. By expanding our knowledge, we could maybe reproduce on another planet at the time. It may seem far fetched, but you don't know what technology we'll have in 5 billion years.

Wow... are you serious? I have finally found a person who still believes that man has landed on the moon.... if you think this then please explain to me how they haven't been able to go to it again? With a lot more technology they can't get back? Why? Because the U.S. lied just so they can beat Russia to it so they think that they "dominate" the world. Please gtfo america, no1 likes you.

lmfao. im gonna go with elf's theory.

no just kidding.

but what do we find out about sending that hubble thing out into space.

we're like the only living planet, what else is there to find. even if we do find one somewhere out there, how are we gonna reach them if we have enough trouble going to mars.

I bet NASA went on Google and searched "The Moon" on Images.
And you Canadians are all jealous.
Only kidding. Anyways, I'm close enough to Canada to be Canadian myself.
Russia did beat us. Were just too stuck up to accept it.

I think there is some kind of life form some where. Which means the planet would be suitable for humans.
