Yeah, just read tutorials that have been posted in the tutorials section under the thread that Sean posted called Good sites for Graphics tutorials. And like Shawn said. Lots of practice is the only way you can be good. I'm no good at graphics myself.

Also you could try varying with renders. This one is a planet, maybe next one will be a car or something.
