Default ~Guide to 99 Hunting~ - 12-09-2007, 03:34 PM

=*=MATERIALS NEEDED: =*=

1.) 3 Bird snares*
2.) 5 small nets*
3.) 5 ropes*
4.) 10 box traps.*
5.) Set of Larupia. (Hat, top, legs... You will get on your own at LEVEL 31 Hunter.)
*I suggest more materials then actually needed (snares, ropes, nets..)
That's all you will need, suprising eh?
At certain levels & using certain traps you can smoke and/or lay bait, but I never found that this was too effective, just a waste of time. I feel the same way with any sort of camouflage up to Larupia which is useful from 63 hunter and on.

=*=LEVEL 1-9=*=
CRIMSON SWIFTS. (34xp.)
ITEMS NEEDED: BIRD SNARES.
LOATION: JUNGLE.

Grab your bird snares and head south of Feldip Hills which is just south of Yanille & Castle Wars. I suggest using your ring of dueling (if you have one) to
get down to castle wars. If you do not have one.. tele to Adougne or simply walk from Cammy. PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR MAP...
you will want to go to the eastern part of this island to catch the birds. Once you see the Crimson Swifts lay down your trap and wait. They can knock the wooden part of your trap down, so if you see one do this you have to pick up the trap and lay it down again. Make sure
to step about 4 or 5 spaces away from the trap.

*I do warn you that this can be a bit frustrating in the beginning but I promise it gets a lot easier.*

Once you get to level 9, you may move.

=*=LEVEL 9-19=*=
COPPER LONGTAILS. (61xp per.)
ITEMS NEEDED: BIRD SNARES & 50gp.
LOCATION: WOODLANDS.

These birds are located in the Woodlands which is located Southwest of Gnome Sronghold. To get there just walk North towards Eagles Peak and you should
come across a woman with a boat. Take the boat (for 50 gp) and when you get off, walk a little bit South until you come across the Copper Longtails.

Once again lay down your trap as you did previously.

Once you get to level 19, you can move on
(And you can also lay down 2 traps now!!)

=*=LEVEL 19-29=*=
TROPICAL WAGTAILS. (95xp per.)
ITEMS NEEDED: BIRD SNARES.
LOCATED: JUNGLE.

Time to head back down to the Jungle.... these birds are located at the same place as Crimson Swifts but not the exact location.
If you remember where you were before, all you have to do is go all the way West from where the Crimson Swifts were, and then south.
You should then see the Tropical Wagtails.

As before, lay down now 2 traps and wait..

One you get to level 29, you can move on

=*= LEVEL 29-47=*=
SWAMP LIZARDS. (152xp per).
ITEMS NEEDED: 4 or 5 SMALL NETS, AND 4 or 5 ROPES.
LOCATION: SWAMP.

This is where the exp starts to become a lot faster than before ... grab your nets and rope and head to Canafis.
(YOU MUST HAVE PRIEST IN PERIL QUEST DONE TO GET TO THIS AREA!)

EDIT: If you CANNOT complete the Priest in Peril Quest I suggest catching Tropical Wagtails until 23, moving on to Wild Kebbits at level 23 until 47.

Canafis is located just East of Varrock & the hunting area is just Southeast of the Canafis bank. As you are walking through the swamp,
you will come to a spot with trees where you can set up your traps. Just right click the tree and click "Set up Trap." You will automatically set up the trap,
then you wait. Once caught, you simply click on the trap and set it up again.

REMINDER: You may set up three traps at LEVEL 40, so don't forget!

Do this until Level 47 and then move on

=*=LEVEL 47-59=*=
ORANGE SALAMANDERS. (224xp per.)
ITEMS NEEDED: 4 or 5 SMALL NETS, 4 or 5 ROPES, DESERT ROBES, 10-15 WATERSKINS.
LOATION: DESERT.

Orange sallys are located in the Desert. Head to Al Kharid, then South to Shantay Pass. Here you can purchase your pass, robes, and waterskins.
Then bank anything else you won't be needing. I suggest 10-15 waterskins which should last you a while, but take more if you prefer.
Simply, go East after passing through he Shantay pass across the bridge. You will see the same type of traps you saw while catching swamp lizards.

Do as you did before until Level 59, then move on

=*=LEVEL 59-63=*=
RED SALAMANDERS. (275xp per)
ITEMS NEEDED: 4 or 5 SMALL NETS, 4 or 5 ROPES.
LOCATION: TEMPLE.

After Orange Sallys comes very fast exp.. Red Salamanders. These are not hard to find. They are located North of Castle Wars at the Temple. Use
your dueling ring (if you have) and then walk stright North from there. You will pass the Observatory... then you will find the temple. Once again,
you will see the same types of traps set up for swamp lizards, and orange sallys.
Here there are four traps... three in a triangle and one a little farther away than the others. This does get slightly annoying but it is the fastest exp.
at this level.

REMINDER: You can set up 4 traps at level 60.. don't forget!

Once you get Level 63.. MOVE ON!!

****BEFORE YOU START CATCHING CHINS YOU NEED A SET OF LARUPIA SO...*****
To get a set of Larupia on your own... you can go down South of Feldip Hills.. and set up a Pitfall trap. To do this you need:
1.) Logs.
2.) Knife.
3.) Poking stick.

These creatures are located where the Tropical Wagtails were, and where to set up your traps is very clear.
If you need any help with this, please ask. It's really not that difficult.
Click on the pit with logs and a knife in your inventory to cover it.
Once you have done this poke the Spined Larupia with a teasing stick to lure it towards the pit.
Catch these to get your set then onto CHINS.

=*=LEVEL 63-99=*=
RED CHINCHOMPAS!! (265xp per)
ITEMS NEEDED: A set of Larupia (Hat, top, bottoms) and 5-8 Box traps.
LOCATION: JUNGLE.

Congratulations... You can now catch the infamous Red Chinchompas.

I know most of you say it's very very slow exp.. I admit it is not the fastest but this will make you more money. If you are not in it for the money, just the exp,
I suggest staying at Red Salamanders until 70 hunt.
Be patient. It gets faster and in my opinion it was never really all that slow as people make it out to be.

The best spot in my opinion is (PLEASE LOOK ON THE MAP) the spot right to the east of the most Northen river.
If you need me to show you how I set up my traps, I will gladly do so.

Then set down your traps and wait for the red chins to be caught.. and be prepared to make some money

REMINDER: You can set up 5 traps at Level 80, so don't forget to do so.

=*= 63-99 Hunter = About 48k Red Chins = 38-40m =*=

Good Luck and Happy Hunting
