Default GM Helpers - 12-31-2007, 11:42 PM

Regarding the GM helpers ingame. Dont lock this topic please, I just think that PLAYERS that PLAY the game, non-administrators should not have the ability to MUTE ingame. This is ridiculous, these are players I dont see why they cant report bugs to the GM's like they were created to do. For example, Tav attacks me during a hunt and I tell him to grow up, shortly after I kill him and he mutes me for talking trash? What tav your loss of a zem and me telling you to grow up gives you permission to mute me?

I know your friends with tav vamp but this is ridiculous that a PLAYER can have the gm ability to mute. I can see if they had administration accounts where they could mute etc. to theyre own discretion but these are players, cmon they can report things to the GM's without the mute.

And yeah im just blowing off some steam because I dont agree with this and flame me or whatever you want, I know I will get flamed im expecting it b

I don't know anything about this "incident" but generally I think you are right; I believe that when a player has the opportunity to mute, he or she will most likely look for excuses to mute a person he/she dislikes as a player. In my opinion, you should not look for reasons to mute someone; I think mutes are for people who annoys a lot of people by cursing, spamming etc. If a person cannot handle to be told to grow up, I cannot help but wonder what he or she is playing Helbreath for. I mean if you get told to grow up by a person (in a proper way I expect), why not just save the trouble and /tooff? I also think it is worth considering that sometimes it is hard to think clear while fighting and therefore I believe that many GM-Helpers (none in particular, just generally on any server) will use his or her powers based on a personal opinion about the other player.

Please discuss isolated incidents with my in private.

Posting them on a public forum is childish.

I think that the mute was valid. Plus it wasnt for an excessive amount of time. Swirly spams and trash talks all the players..He needed to tone it down last night. Tav warned him and he insisted on not listening. Therefore, he was muted. At the point your warned by a GM Helper you should just chill and let things go is how I'm looking at it.

so why should swirly no be able to talk to ANYONE? why cant tav just tooff...
dont let the fact that people dont like swirly change the fact that the mute was unwarrented... tooff is just as effective... in just that one little inch that seperates the line i feel that it was abuse to mute ..... he wasnt spamming(saying the same thing overand over ) just talkin trash... just like on a street basketball court...... if offence is taken to off would have been more approraite to tooff

swirly i dont hate you or anything like that, or i wouldnt have helped you get a zem back when Egg was giving u dirtnap lessons, you just need to chill out sometimes trash talking people excessively. and before i even attacked u at that hunt, i asked ALL the people there if it was okay for me to attack you. none opposed it. and more than half of them were elvine. logs will show whispers of players asking me to just jump u during the hunt. as far as killing me, yeah i get a lil upset when i die, especially with u cant seem to use fair play, always jump players 2 on 1 with activation then shout bout how u downed so and so and claim it was 1 on 1. EK announcer takes care of saying who got killed and by whom. for some mysterious reason u went from being a tolerable player, to a real trashtalker when u started finding items of quality. Everyone noticed it. before u can have respect, u need to prove you're worth being shown respect, by respecting others.

thats all i have to say.

"more trouble than it was going to be worth" thats exactly what i said before i muted you, big mouth

If you define " [Player Name ] ran 1v1" or "[ Player name ] down 1v1" when the majority of the time its not 1v1 as spam then the mute was justified. If you don't that thats spam then your foolish. Swirly spams and abuses players for no reason. It's not that I have a problem with Swirly. I have a problem with the way Swirly decides he wants to act when majority of the time he is the aggressor. The mute was justified. If he didn't want to get muted then he should have heeded the warnings. If he was being hotheaded and say "hey mute me then" or anything then he deserved it. Basically, regardless of what the reasoning for warning Swirly was. He WAS warned and warned often. He was warned I'm guessing through PM first and even through global. He decided he wanted to keep doing what was causing him to get muted, therefore I have no sympathy for him. Bottom line..if you get told to stop doing something by a GM or GMHelper, THEN STOP!

If you just stoped trash talking maybe this will not happen to you. Trash talking got you the mute and it wasnt even a long mute.

technically it was 2 mutes, first was on Swirly, the he logged on Swirls and kept talking.

Swirly got a 1 hour mute
Swirls got a 50min mute

and if i had just /tooff'd him it still would have been everyone else telling him to shut up.
