Introduction
*Note: Woodcutting was my favorite skill in runescape and I thought i'd make a guide of what I know and share it with all of you! xD
Well basically this guide is to help you train your woodcutting the most fast or most profitable way possible. I will give you step by step instructions on how to accomplish this. After you read this guide please give it a rating and if anything needs fixing please let me know!
Fast Xp
Levels 1 to 15
Ok so you just are starting to want to woodcut and you are only level 1. Obviously you must begin with normal logs, but where? When I start noob accounts I found that the best place for normal log cutting is in this clump of trees above Draynor. So first go grab a bronze or iron axe. Now there are 9 normal trees in this spot and its right above the bank.
After you come to this spot just keep cutting down the tree until you have a full inventory then bank at Draynor and repeat the process until you have level 15. Once you are done you can use the logs to firemake, fletch or sell for cash.
Levels 15 to 30
Now that you have level 15 you can cut down oak trees. There are many spots where you can cut these down but this spot will be the most fast. You will should in Draynor still just like before but go closer to the bank. There are 2 oak trees on the east outside the bank.
Just keep cutting and banking until you have level 30. Once you are done you can use the logs to firemake, fletch, or sell for cash. (again)
Levels 30 to 99
This is where woodcutting begins to pick up and give a little more then before. Now that you can cut willows they will be the most fast way to getting 99. There are three spots I recommend cutting willows one of them is for free players and two of them are for members. The free spot is very obvious. Of course Draynor! This spot is very ideal for quick cutting and banking. It has 5 trees and is loaded with lots of woodcutters.
And the second spot is in Seers village. This spot can be found right above the bank and is also a good quick spot. It is also not as crowded as the spot in Draynor and has 6 trees.
And the last spot is at the Barbarian Assault minigame right outside. This spot has 4 willows but is ideal for powercutting because you can just bank the logs in the deposit box inside Barbarian Assault.
Keep cutting and banking until you have 70, which will take some time. And use the logs for firemaking, fletching, or selling for cash. *Note: If you are starting at level 30 it will take some time and may be slow just keep going for it.
Money Making
Levels 1 to 15
Just like the fast xp way you should stay here in Draynor. But this time you should sell these logs to fletchers that make arrows because they are lazy and will pay some descent cash for them.
Levels 15 to 30
Now that you have level 15 you can cut oaks. Oaks can draw some decent cash from players that need to make planks for construction. I would stay in the same spot as the fast xp way.
Levels 30 to 70
Ok so now you can cut willows. These also make lots of cash from people who want to fletch or firemake because they give nice amounts of xp. So cut these in any spot that you wish and then sell them to players until you reach level 70.
Levels 70 to 99
Now that you have 70 you can truely be called a woodcutter. We are now going to cut yews. Why not maples? Because I find maples to be very slow and not as useful. For yews there are lots of good spots you can use. But I am going to give you the two best again. The first spot is right between Rimmington and Melzar's Maze. It has 4 trees and is kinda far from a bank so I recommend using Falador bank.
And the second spot is kind of between Seers and Catherby. It is typically crowded with people but has 5 yew trees and is very close to a bank.
Just keep doing this until you reach a level that you like. I recommend using the yews to fletch into yew longbows and then high alcing them to make a lot of money. But you can just use them for firemaking or just sell them.
Extras
Axes
Bronze Axe - You start off with this when you get off tutorial island you can use right away.
Iron Axe - Instead of using the bronze axe when you get off tutorial island I recommend buying this because its cheap and a little faster.
Steel Axe - Once you get 5 woodcutting you should buy this from bob's axes because it is cheap as well and faster.
Black Axe - I would recommend just keeping your steel axe because these are harder to find and aren't much better.
Mithril Axe - When you get 21 woodcutting you could just buy this off a player for about 2k; its a great improvement from steel.
Adamant Axe - I would just stick with a mith axe because like the black axe this is a little more rare and not much better.
Rune Axe - I would definately recommend buying this right when you get to 41 woodcutting and just use it forever.
Dragon Axe - I find this to be a waste of 3m+ cash unless you have the money to spend because it is not much better then a rune axe.
Lumberjack Outfit
The Lumberjack outfit is obtained from killing undead Lumberjacks in the minigame Temple Trekking. When piece of this set are worn while cutting trees it gives you bonus xp.
Lumberjack Hat - 0.4% Bonus Xp
Lumberjack Top - 0.8% Bonus Xp
Lumberjack Legs - 0.6% Bonus Xp
Lumberjack Boots - 0.2% Bonus Xp
Canoes
A way of transportation that consists of woodcutting is making canoes to travel on rivers. There are four types of canoes that you can make based on your level. The places you can travel are also based on your level. When you make them they also give xp. The canoes are as follows:
Log - Level 12 - 30 xp
Dugout Canoe - Level 27 - 60 xp
Stable Dugout Canoe - Level 42 - 90 xp
Waka Canoe - Level 57 - 150 xp
Growing Trees
Most people think that farming is boring but it can benefit woodcutters. You can plant your own trees in a patch and use them as many times as you want to cut logs. This is good to use because nobody can cut it except you. To plant the trees it requires the same level farming as you would need to cut that type of tree.
F.A.Q.
Question: Why not cut Magic logs or Maple logs?
Answer:
I just find them to be very slow and take up a lot of time, but if you get 85+ you could cut magics for money.
Question: Out of Firemaking, Fletching, or selling for money; what do you recommend?
Answer:
For lower level logs like normal logs and oaks I would just use for firemaking and for willows and yews I would fletch. But if you are not good at either fletching or firemaking or just don't like them just sell the logs.
