During a game of castle wars you may notice that many people become obsessed with what they are doing to help their team win and sometimes lose sight of the whole picture. What this guide is for you ask? To take full advantage of them!
Capturing the Enemy Flag:
There are many ways to capture the enemy flag, such as running straight for the flag above ground and running away with their flag above ground and getting pummeled by rangers and mages and hoping that you'll survive long enough to get back to base. However, this is one of the most effective ways to capture the enemy flag:
Bring about 16 bandages, 8 explosive potions, and 4 barricades.

Go underground and choose a passage. It is important to be alert of exactly how you are going to get there to avoid confusion.
It is recommended that you use these paths:

- Make sure you are running this whole time to avoid enemies. You want to get the flag with as little damage as possible.
- Also, make sure you use bandages when needed as you run as they restore good amounts of energy too.
-Once you get used to it you'll be able to estimate when you need to use a bandage to recover energy before running out.
-It's very bad if you run out because then you'll waste precious second switching run back on.
- Use your explosive potions as needed to clear a path.
- Climb up the ladder into the enemy base.
- It is recommended that you choose a path like this to navigate through the ground floor of the enemy base as it will lessen the chance of you being attacked:

Now just run up all the stairs and blast any barricades that stand in your way.
- Remember barricades (or cades for short) are usually set up in front of stairs and sometimes you can't see them because someone is standing on it. If something is preventing you from going up simply right click in that area to find that cade and blast it away.
- It's a good idea to activate any protection prayer you have at this time.
- Also, you may want to stock up on some explosive potions while you are in the enemy base if you are low. You'll need them for your trip back.
Now just wait on the third floor of the enemy castle for the flag to respawn.
- Sometimes if you are simply out of sight the enemy will simply ignore you are there such as standing here:

- - You can also put barricades up to protect you as you wait if you have enough explosive potions.
- When you see the signal that the enemy flag is safe, this is your chance to run up there and grab it.
- Now run down all the stairs and try to get off the second floor as fast as you can to avoid any mages with ancients.
- As you are running it is a good idea to set up barricades to cut off any pursuing enemies.
- The best spots to set up the barricades are in areas where you just need to set up one to block your enemies. These areas include narrow hallways, in front of ladders or stairs before you go down them, and small doorways.
- When you are in the caves, set up barricades as you are running because if you set one up in your enemies’ automatic following path they’ll just stop at the cade. By the time they figure out they need to go around the cade manually you’ll be long gone.
- It is also important to note that there is a small delay time when you set up a barricade. So as you are running, be sure to set up the barricade a little bit before you get to the spot you want it to be set up to counteract this delay.
- Continue your way back to base using bandages to recover any health or energy. Try to keep your health at 100% at this time.
- Get in your base and bring the enemy flag to your flag standard to capture it.
- Don’t let you’re guard down once you are at your base, there can still be enemies lurking around that could ruin all you’re hard work!
- The most dangerous place to be with the enemy flag in your base is at your flag standard. This is where many enemies stay as they are waiting for your team’s flag to reappear. Sometimes there are even mages with ancients up there!
- Now just do this about 20 times and you’re team might win.
Defending Your Flag: Remember, sometimes the best offence is a good defence. Here are a few methods to help protect your flag:
Method 1:
Set up a wall of barricades to prevent the enemy from getting to or from your flag like this:

or this:

However if you use this strategy it's best if you take the responsibility of maintaining this defense. This includes replacing destroyed barricades, informing your teammates to go around it through the respawn room, and blowing up a path for your team's flag carrier to go through and capture the enemy flag since he can't go around it through the respawn room.
Method 2:
Set up barricades around common areas the enemy tries to get in.
One common spot is on the second floor of your castle where the catapult is. This is a good defense if the enemy is getting in primarily by using climbing rope. With this you can at least slow them down a good amount.

Also, setting up barricades around cave entrances works pretty well, but usually keep it as a mild defense since many of your own teammates use that path to get through.
You also may want to set up barricades at the stairs or ladders to prevent enemies from escaping with your flag. This is normally not very effective unless you have mages with the ancient spells guarding so that they can freeze the enemy holding your flag while everyone else joins in on the attack.
Method 3:
Set up barricades around your team's flag standard and at the stairs to prevent the enemy from stealing you flag without a fight. Make you have explosives on hand to clear the barricades for your team's flag carrier so he can quickly capture the flag when he gets there.
Method 4:
When your team has reached its limit on the number of cades it can set up, you can create fake barriers by dropping cades on the ground instead of setting them up. This might be enough to deter your enemy from using passages like the caves and force them try and escape above ground and increasing your team's chances of striking him down before he gets back to his castle.
Other Strategies: When you don't know which team to be on, go onto the team that just lost the last game. The team that just lost almost always wins the next one because lower level players flood onto the winning team, forcing the better, higher leveled players onto the losing one. It's a never ending cycle, but this isn't a foolproof strategy. Sometimes, the team just does win twice in a row, but this works most of the time.
Another way to choose what team to join is view the scoreboard in the lobby. Just go on the team that has the most wins.
Also, you can choose teams by finding the one that is full and hard to get in. This is normally going to be the one that'll win. Just keep clicking on the portal and trying to get in.
