Fire_Ant_X’s Complete Guide to Trading GP

Traders Dictionary
Chargeback – A term used exclusively in relation to Paypal trades. It refers to when a buyer of gp takes back the money he or she has sent to the seller after the trade has been completed. They can file a chargeback either through Paypal of through their credit card company.
Middle Men (MM) – A person who is not directly involved in the trade and acts as a sort of barrier from getting scammed for both parties. The Middle Man is generally given the gp from the seller and is to hold it until the seller confirm that the payment from the buyer has been received. After the seller confirms the payment has been received, the Middle Man gives the gp to the buyer. If there is an issue during the trade, the Middle Man also should try to resolve it.
Xypher Method – A method used exclusively with Paypal trades. This method involves the creation of an Australian Paypal account and closing it after the trade has be completed. [External Link]
Renegade Method – A method used in relation to Paypal trades exclusively in which the buyer includes a note with his payment to stop the chance of reversal. This method has worked for some and has not worked for others. [External Link]
Mils – A slang term for multiples of 1 million GP in Runescape.
Shop (Mil Shop, GP Shop) – A place where a seller of Runescape Mils sells his Mils. The Seller might also be buying mils at a lower price than he is selling for in order to make profit using the ‘buy low, sell high’ scheme.
Pay by Mail (PBM) – Sending cash, check, or money order to the seller’s address.
Half and half – Most of the time a scam which involves one of the parties involved to give half of their goods first after which the other party will give half of their goods.
Report a Scammer – A forum on Sythe in which all reports of scammers must be posted.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scams
This section will detail all of the various scams that people will try to steal your money or gp. This section is meant only to inform the consumer in the hopes that they will be able to prevent them from getting scammed.

1. Half and half
This method may seem like a legitimate method to trade but most likely will be a scam. Pretty much all legitimate traders do not use this method. This method of trading usually requires one of the people to give half of their part of the trade first after which the second person will give half of their part of the trade. Then the first person gives the second half of their trade followed by the second person giving his second half of the trade. This method is essentially the same thing as trading first. People who use this scam will usually ask for double what they really are looking for so that when they ask for half they will really be getting all of what they need.

Counters
Just don’t trade with people who say that they will only use this method.
2. Fake MM/Mod
This is when a person uses fake MM who appears to be real at first glace. The fake Mm may have a similar e-mail to the one that is listed in the Official Sythe MM list, but has a few different characters. The most foolish of these scammers will have an e-mail address (only applicable to MSN users) which does not even look like the actual MM e-mail and will change their display name to the same one that the actual MM has. Usually the fake MM and the person who you are trading with are the same person or may be working together.

Counters
Always ask the MM to PM you one Sythe to confirm that they are talking to you on AIM/MSN.

3. ‘It wasn’t me!’ Scam
The buyer of the gp gives you his Runescape name, and you trade them. You do not talk to the person in game because you do not want to get banned. The person who you are trading with asks a few minutes later “where are you”, or “are you still trading” after you have given the money. He/she will say that you gave the money to the wrong person and that they still want to buy or something to that effect. This scam is usually accomplished wit the buyer having two different character with very similar names. The names may differ in the number of spaces between certain characters in their names such as “john smith” and “john smith” – note the two spaces between john and smith in the second name.

Another version of this scam is when a person contacts you on AIM/MSN and says he or she is a certain trusted person on Sythe. You then look of their name on Sythe and see they are indeed trusted to a degree and decide it is safe to send first. They log out after you give them your part of the trade. It later turns out that that person on Sythe is not actually the person you had been trading with on AIM/MSN, so you cant report him or her in Report a Scammer. The person they were pretending to be on Sythe isn’t necessarily to blame for this scam.

Counters
Always take screenshots of the trades, and if you are trading them in game, then you should ask them “I am trading you now correct? Xmil for item A item B and item C?” and after they say yes you should take a screenshot of them saying yes and the trade screen in RS.

For the second variation, you should always haven’t he person PM you on Sythe to confirm their identity. You should also check after they have PMed you that their name matches with the other posts you have seen them make. Sometimes scammers can make names which look very similar to that of the person they are trying to imitate.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Payment Methods

1. Paypal
Paypal is by far the easiest of all the payment methods to use, however with the ease of use comes some very serious risks. Paypal is and online service which is somewhat like a bank in that it allows the user to keep money in his or her online account. Paypal accounts are free to create and do not require you to input a credit card. There are three main ways to get money into your Paypal account; inputting your credit card number thus allowing Paypal to withdraw funds from your card, associating a bank account with your Paypal account, or receiving money from another person. I suggest using a great deal of caution with this method, and only selling to people using this method if they are very trusted.
Advantages
a. Instant transactions
b. Accepted at most online vendors
c. Free to create an account
d. Allows the use of credit cards

Disadvantages
a. Payment reversal system not friendly to transactions involving non-tangible items (Runescape items)
b. Very unhelpful customer support
c. Will freeze (limit) your account seemingly randomly
d. Very easy to get scammed using this method

Common Scams
a. The buyer pays for the mils first and the seller gives the mils to the buyer. The buyer then files a complaint to Paypal within 45 days of the transaction stating that the transactions was fraudulent thus keeping the GP and getting his money back.
b. The buyer pays for the mils first and the seller gives the mils to the buyer. The buyer then calls his credit card company stating that the transactions was made fraudulently and that he wants his money back. The credit card company withdraws the money from Paypal and Paypal withdraws it form your account thus leaving you without GP or money.

2. E-Gold
Another online payment service very similar to Paypal, the major difference is that it does not allow chargebacks. These accounts are also free to create and offer many security features over Paypal. In order to get money into your account, you must use a third party vendor which will then transfer the money into your e-gold account. This usually occurs by means of bank wire from your bank account to the third party vendors account. When they have received your payment they will then deposit the funds you have bought into your e-gold account. The bank transfers takes 2-3 days usually and the third party vendor may charge a fee. E-Gold is a lot more secure in terms of post trade reversal, so I would recommend to use is for trades involving GP.

Advantages
a. No chance of payment reversal
b. Instant transactions
c. Free to create and account
d. Highly secure in terms of being keylogged
e. People usually sell at lower prices via this method

Disadvantages
a. Takes 2-3 days to get money in your account after buying e-gold
b. Cannot use credit cards
c. Not accepted at many online vendors
d. Must use a third party service to transfer money into your account

Common Scams
a. None directly associated with using this method.

3. Mail
This method is fairly strait forward; the buyer pays the seller by sending a direct payment of cash, money order, or personal check to their address. It usually takes 2-3 days if both the buyer and the seller are within the US. There are many tricks and scams associated with this method so you should use caution when using it. This method also requires you (as either the buyer or seller) to give most likely your home address to the person you are trading with so I would not recommend trading with people you don’t trust using mail.

Advantages
a. No chance of post trade scamming for either parties
b. Easier in some cases for people who do not have access to a credit card
c. No trace of transaction (for a third party)

Disadvantages
a. Requires exchange of home addresses
b. Takes 2-3 days for the trade to be completed
c. Possible to get scammed very easily

Common Scams
a. The buyer insists that the seller goes first and after he has the gp he says he will send the money. After 3-4 days he says he has sent it but does not know why it has not gotten there. He provides screenshots of the envelope and a screenshot of himself putting it in the mailbox. The buyer later says it may have been lost in the mail, or at this point blocks you on AIM/MSN. The point is that you will not know you have been scammed for a few days after you have either given the other person the mils or sent the money (since this can occur with the buyer sending the money first too).
b. The buyer says do to the half and half method and that he will send the money once he has gotten half the mils. He gets half the mils he is buying and then logs off.
c. The seller of the gp gives you an address but later says that he accidentally gave you the wrong on after you have already sent the money. Having the seller repeat his/her address multiple times is the best way to avoid this.

4. Western Union
Western Union (WU) is a type of instant money transfer service and which could arguably be the most versatile of as well as safe of all of the payment method listed here. To pay through WU the buyer would either have to go to his local WU kiosk or to the WU website. WU allows the buyer to pay with either cash or credit card thus providing an alternative to those who think that sending cash via mail takes too long and to those who say they can only pay through a credit card using Paypal. WU offers two types of transfers; Money in Minuets, which allows the seller to pick up the money from his local WU location within 10 minuets of the transfer taking place, as well as a Next Day service which at a lower cost, allows the seller to pick up the money within 48 hours. One thing which seems to confuse buyer is to what ‘account’ they should send the money to. The answer is that WU doesn’t have you send the money to and ‘account’ per se but to a person, therefore you will only need a persons name, city, and country to send money to them.

Advantages
a. Instant money transfer alternative to Paypal and E-Gold
b. Ability to track payment status online
c. Takes both cash and credit card
d. No chance of chargeback (after payment is picked up)

Disadvantages
a. Fees of between $10-$30 independent of the transfer amount
b. Having to give out one’s personal information
c. Seller must go to the actual WU location to pick up money

Common Scams
a. None directly associated with using this method.

5. Direct Bank Deposit
I shall preface this by stating that I have never personally used this method as it is my opinion that it is unwise to give out one’s bank information to a person whom I don’t know personally. Anyways a bank transfer is when the buyer, after being given the sellers bank account number and routing number (not sure about being required to give the routing number), directly sends the money from their bank to the seller’s. It is also possible to do a direct bank deposit through Western Union; however the buyer would not be sending the money from his bank account but rather a credit card or cash. There is a possibility of a chargeback, but it is very unlikely.

Advantages
a. Almost instantaneous
b.

How To Real World Trade in Bounty Hunter

Buying Gold in F2P

Level 3 - 55: low-level crater
Want to buy gold on a level 3? Sorry to break it to you, but it is NOT going to happen. for this to work, it is advised to have atleast a level 25-55.

Requirements

Runescape Account with combat levels from 25-55
32 Magic for Bounty Locate spell.
Being able to defeat your gold seller [Opponent]

Starting Off

Talk to your customer/seller on MSN/Aim; NEVER EVER talk to them on runescape, even in your private messages! Decide on the amount of gold you are going to buy/sell.
Since you are in the levels of 25-55, your buyer most probablly will not have 25 prayer, but that isn't a problem in this method.

Both parties should decide on an item(s) they agree on. This method is very safe, so let's decide we want to sell 1.6m gp to a level 40.

(In this senerio I am going to be the Seller)

I will meet with my buyer in one of the lowest populated Bounty Hunter worlds. Now to make this go faster, it would be wise to do the trade late at night when bounty

hunter is NOT that populated. I am going to bring in a Wizard hat (g), Wizard Robe Body (g), Green D'Hide Chaps (g), and a Strength Amulet (T), because all of these equal 1.6m gp.

Now remember, i am going to have my IM window with my customer open, and on his signal ENTER the low level bounty hunter crater. My buyer will then tell me whether or

not I am his target. If he tells me I am his target, I'll simply wait a few seconds untill he uses his Bounty Locate Spell and teleports to me. He will then kill me, recieve NO

penalty, and leave happily with his 1.6m
*NOTE* If my buyer was NOT my target, we would simply leave the crater and step back in untill I am his target and he kills me.

Level 50 - 100: medium-level crater

Talk to your customer/seller on MSN/Aim; NEVER EVER talk to them on runescape, even in your private messages! Decide on the amount of gold you are going to buy/sell.

Both parties should decide on an item(s) they agree on. This method is very safe, so let's decide we want to sell 5m GP. Please be aware that most sellers SHOULD have 40

defence, and if the seller does have 40 defence it will go by much faster. However, it is not neccesary for the seller to have 40 defence, but you will have to make more trips.

Let's say I (the SELLER) Do have 40 defence. I could simply bring in a set of full Zamorak (worth just about 2.5m) and let my buyer kill me. Two trips of these and the trade will be done.

Now lets say I (the SELLER) do NOT have 40 defence. Well than your best luck would be transferring the same as low level craters; a Wizard hat (g), Wizard Robe Body (g), Green D'Hide Chaps (g), and a Strength Amulet (T).

Okay, so both parties should meet at the GERMAN WORLD, 122, because it IS the least populated bounty hunter world for the MEDIUM-LEVEL crater. Now remember, i am going to have my IM window with my customer open, and on his signal ENTER the medium-level bounty hunter crater. My buyer will then tell me whether or not I am his

target. If he tells me I am his target, I'll simply wait a few seconds untill he uses his Bounty Locate Spell and teleports to me. He will then kill me, recieve NO penalty, and leave happily with his Money.
*NOTE* If my buyer was NOT my target, we would simply leave the crater and step back in untill I am his target and he kills me.

Level 95+: high-level crater

Now we're talking pretty fast RWT'ing. At level 95+ you WILL have 40+ defence, so you can bring in full saradomin, zamorak, or guthix!

We are going to bring in a set of full Zamorak (worth just about 2.5m) and let my buyer kill me. Two trips of these and the trade will be done.

For the high level crater, I do not know a world, I would try the German World 122, but if that doesn't work, simply try another. Now remember, i am going to have my IM window with my customer open, and on his signal ENTER the High-level bounty hunter crater. My buyer will then tell me whether or not I am his target. If he tells me I am his target, I'll simply wait a few seconds untill he uses his Bounty Locate Spell and teleports to me. He will then kill me, recieve NO penalty, and leave happily with his Money.
*NOTE* If my buyer was NOT my target, we would simply leave the crater and step back in untill I am his target and he kills me.P2P

Level 3 - 67: low-level crater

talk to your customer/seller on MSN/Aim; NEVER EVER talk to them on runescape, even in your private messages! Decide on the amount of gold you are going to buy/sell.
Since you are in the levels of 25-67, your buyer most probablly will not have 25 prayer, but that isn't a problem in this method.

Both parties should decide on an item(s) they agree on.

Now since you are P2P, you have a whole new selection of items. Since your (the SELLERS) stats will vary, it is wise to chose an item that suites your stats and will take the least number of trips. If you can not decide, a Fury amulet would probablly be good.

(In this senerio I am going to be the Seller)

I will meet with my buyer in one of the lowest populated Bounty Hunter worlds. Now to make this go faster, it would be wise to do the trade late at night when bounty hunter is NOT that populated. I am going to take whatever item(s) i decided with me.

Now remember, i am going to have my IM window with my customer open, and on his signal ENTER the low level bounty hunter crater. My buyer will then tell me whether or not I am his target. If he tells me I am his target, I'll simply wait a few seconds untill he uses his Bounty Locate Spell and teleports to me. He will then kill me, recieve NO penalty, and leave happily with his Money.
*NOTE* If my buyer was NOT my target, we would simply leave the crater and step back in untill I am his target and he kills me.

Level 62 - 112: medium-level crater

talk to your customer/seller on MSN/Aim; NEVER EVER talk to them on runescape, even in your private messages! Decide on the amount of gold you are going to buy/sell.

Both parties should decide on an item(s) they agree on.

Now, you are levels 62-112, and should have some pretty decent stats. You can now transfer anything from Fury amulets to Dark Bows, to God Swords to dragon fire sheilds!

Now remember, i am going to have my IM window with my customer open, and on his signal ENTER the medium level bounty hunter crater.

Level 107+: high-level crater

talk to your customer/seller on MSN/Aim; NEVER EVER talk to them on runescape, even in your private messages! Decide on the amount of gold you are going to buy/sell.

Both parties should decide on an item(s) they agree on.

Now, you are levels 107+, you WILL have ATLEAST 60 defence, so you can trade Dragon armour, GodWars armour, or anything else!

Now remember, i am going to have my IM window with my customer open, and on his signal ENTER the medium level bounty hunter crater. My buyer will then tell me whether or not I am his target. Transferring items from levels 56+ to levels 55-1?! YES, that is right! lets say you have a main with A LOT of cash on it, and you have a level 50 pure waiting to be used, but nothing to fund it? Well here is your solution!
You will need a level 50-55 (NOT YOUR PURE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO USE, however you could use your pure if it fell into combat level 50-55) with ANY STATS and ATLEAST 32 magic.

You may still be thinkin, how the hell am i going to transfer all my money from my main to my pure? well just read on.

Set up to dual login on both accounts (your cruddy transferring lvl 50-55; and your main) in GERMAN WORLD 122; medium-level crater. Take the best F2P equipment your main can hold (expensive wise) in your inventory, because you want the most you can get in each of your trips.

once you have your level 50-55 and your main set up, enter the medium-level crater, and check on your LEVEL 50-55 if your main is your target. If so, use your Bounty Locate Spell and teleport to him, and kill him to claim your beautiful cash. If not, simply leave and come back in.

You may still be thinking, how in the world am i going to transfer my cash to my pure now? all i have is my money on a stupid level 50-55! Well, that is the key!

Set up your accounts to multi log in the LEAST POPULATED bounty hunter world for the LOW LEVEL CRATER. once you've found one, multi log in.

Your level 50-55 should have a Wizard hat (g), Wizard Robe Body (g), Green D'Hide Chaps (g), and a Strength Amulet (T) because that is probablly the best you can bring into your low level crater.

Check and see on YOUR PURE if your level 50-55 is your target. If so, using Bounty Locate Spell teleport towards him and kill him. If he isn't, simply leave and return untill he is.

Congratulation, you have succesfully transferred your money from your MAIN to your PURE!
